Are you looking for affordable solid fuels? Do you want a heating solution that’s affordable and eco-friendly as well? Well, we might just have something that would be just right! Heat logs are a compact, convenient, efficient and affordable solid fuel product that stands out in a very diverse market. They are almost identical to regular wood briquettes, apart from a few small differences.

What are heat logs?

Generally speaking, heat logs are one of the most popular alternatives to regular wood and logs. Used as a firestarter and as regular fuel, they have been quite popular in the United Kingdom and the Republic Of Ireland for a while now. Heat logs in high demand in Europe as well as North America and some other parts of the world, too.

Heat logs are produced by compressing clean Kiln-dried wood sawdust and shavings - raw wood materials. They are easy to light and store, they have a huge energy output and provide maximum outputs of heat quite quickly. This is because there’s little moisture within them.

How to use heat logs?

Correct usage begins way before lighting it up. It’s actually down to how you store them. If you want to buy the best heat logs and make the most of their qualities, try to keep them in a dry area. Prevent them from coming in contact with moisture, so indoor storage seems like the only viable option. Ventilate the room to reduce humidity and lift bags or panels off of the ground to prevent any moisture that accumulates on the ground surface, to touch it. Cover the packages to avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

Preparing to light a fire. Doing so with heat logs is relatively simple. Pretty much any fire-starting method will work, but we advise breaking up two individual briquettes/pieces into four or even six smaller pieces of equal sizes. Breaking up can be done by tapping one log against the other or at a rigid surface. After you’ve broken them up, toss them into the fireplace. Arrange a shape where they are all touching each other. A triangle seems to be the optimal choice. Take another piece and place it in the middle (standing) of this triangle. Then, ignite it. This flame should quickly engulf the rest of the logs which were arranged in the right shape.

Now you can take control of the flame intensity into your hands. Manipulate airflow controls or add another set of logs to increase the intensity of the flame. Our recommendation would be to avoid adding in a lot of heat logs to the fire rapidly. Because of the very low moisture content, this could create an unpleasant or even dangerous environment.

Benefits of using heat logs

They share a lot of the same advantages as briquettes, thus meaning that eco heat logs are equally just as good indoors and outdoors. They are a lot safer than some other fuels and won’t leave too much ash or emit large amounts of smoke. This is possible thanks to the fact that heat logs contain very little moisture (usually the moisture content is no higher than 5%).

The extremely low moisture content is probably the best feature of compressed heat logs. Low moisture means quick ignition and high heat outputs, moreover, due to the smart manufacturing and refined composition they are great for wood-burning stoves and fire pits, log burners, chimneys as well as probably any other kiln or stove that is around these days.
